When it comes time to look at our lives I step into muddy water,
It’s better then closing my eyes
When it comes time to shake off and dry I stand in the sunshine,
It’s better then doing something
When it comes time for me to break down and cry I turn on a movie,
It’s better then feeling things
When it comes time to lay down and die I’ll already be sleeping,
It’s better then watching it come.
And sometimes I know that when it comes I’ll be waiting patiently,
I’ve called it on my own
And sometimes I feel it inside but I’ve already felt it before,
I’ve just called it to feel some more.
When it comes time to face the unkind I’ll shudder in the corner,
It’s better then losing again
When it comes time to live my life as a lie I’ll welcome it with fondness,
It’s better then living alone
When it comes time to regret the passing of time I’ll light up a cigarette,
It helps me to stop my thinking
It helps me to start my drinking
It helps me to kill what I know
It helps me to kill what I know.
